Meet the Team – Rachel Moses-Falecki

What is your role at Lumi.Media?

I am a Senior Producer for Lumi.  I work closely with new customers to understand current business challenges and how we can help them achieve their objectives with Lumi.

Why did you join Lumi.Media?

I had cast and produced more than 20 TV programs without using Lumi, and 2 programs using Lumi.  I saw something very special in the software and the vision of the game shakers – the people who were creating it – so I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of the team.

What are the main challenges you see facing content-makers?

I think one of the main challenges for content makers is (and will continue to be) keeping up with expectations and dealing with the challenge of change. By this, I mean balancing the modern expectation of producing content that is both of high quality and integrity, and not just focusing on quantity. While the nature of the industry today encourages fast turnaround for content creation and the use of individuals expected to be experts in a variety of areas, we should strive to ensure it doesn’t compromise the skill set of specialists experienced in their area.

What surprises people the most when they start using Lumi?

I think the sheer depth and breadth of the platform and its versatility really surprises people.

What is your favourite part of the job?

The flexibility and ability to work from wherever I want and working within an organisation with a real trust mentality –  trust that the job gets done – and output and hours are not the same things.

When you aren’t working, what is one thing you love to do?

I couldn’t possibly pick just one so here’s my top 4.   I love spending time with my family and friends who are like family.   I like to finish the night by switching off and watching a series … I’ve always got a few going at once.   I’ve been known to spend a lot of my spare time curating interesting Spotify playlists with my oddly eclectic taste in music!   Last but definitely not least a spot of retail therapy ranks high.

What is something people would be surprised to find out about you?

I am the founder and co-owner of the first micro-distillery in the Parramatta area – The Primary Goods Company.

What is the best career advice anyone has given you?

I have two.

  1. How do you eat an elephant?  One bite at a time
  2. Talent will get you in the door but character will keep you in the room.
What’s a fun fact that only your good friends would know about you?

I am really good at singing the wrong words to songs for years.  Or creating my own words that don’t exist in the English language but I choose to use them.

What 3 words would your friends use to describe you?

Efficient. Dependable. Energetic.

What was your first job?

My first job in TV was working as a Production Assistant at Foxtel’s The Weather Channel.
